Welcome To Melady Acres
Melady Miniature Dachshunds, commencing in 2014, focused on producing beautiful long-haired English Cream puppies to sell and show. Since then, we have branched out to include Piebald and Reds. Therefore, our unique blend of doxies gives us a distinct selling advantage, since we feature a dog for most tastes.
We are dedicated to breeding healthy, happy dachshunds that conform to the highest AKC standards.
We have made a special effort to select our breeding stock from different areas of the USA and Canada to maximize and maintain superior lines.

BEGINNING
Dogs have been an exciting and wonderful part of our family's life since I was a small child, but my love for dachshunds originated while living in Australia during the late 1980's and early 1990's. We rescued Bennie from a household that had not treated him very well, yet he was the most gentle, loving dog a person could ever desire. Sadly, I was unable to bring Bennie with me when I returned to the United States in 1998; however, I have never forgotten him.
With my first paycheck back in the US, I purchased a tiny, beautiful miniature long-haired dachshund. Wanda was with us until Nov 2016. She had a wonderful life and is greatly missed. We will see you again, Wanda.

Passing my love for dogs on to my daughter has given her the opportunity to purchase, raise and sell many registered dachshunds. Her expertise in the field of dog breeding and dog showing has increased exponentially over the past ten years.
In May, 2015 we started the actual "DogmaJal" as the new kennel has now been dubbed. What a fun project! It took us about four months to decide what type of building would suit our particular needs. I wanted a barn shaped roof for plenty of storage -- my daughter wanted a corrugated aluminum roof and hardy board siding for durability. We finally found the ideal combination and placed an order at the end of September. The shell, built by Mennonites, was delivered to Melady's Acres in just over three weeks.
After the electrical and painting (a family affair), plumbing, insulation, hardy board walls, drywall ceiling, and waterproof flooring were completed, we divided the inside into a whelping/play area for the puppies, a sleeping area, and a grooming area. We also included a washer and dryer for bedding clean-up.
Taking that love a stage further, we have now formed our own business: MELADY MINATURE DACHSHUNDS, LLC
